Mission Statement

The Friends of the National Archives of Malta (FNAM) is a vibrant voluntary organization founded by a passionate group of individuals from diverse backgrounds, all united by their enthusiasm for the National Archives of Malta. While every civilization treasures its culturally significant artefacts and records, Malta's history is particularly fascinating and richly documented, offering a unique tapestry of stories waiting to be explored.

What We Do

The Executive Committee of the Friends of the National Archives meets monthly to explore exciting opportunities for enhancing the National Archives' collection by acquiring national-importance records from third parties.

In addition, the Committee is actively advocating for the development of a new building that will serve as a state-of-the-art Mediterranean hub for archival education and practices. This vision, originally outlined in past electoral programs, remains unfulfilled, and the Committee is committed to ensuring that Malta’s rich archival heritage receives the space and recognition it deserves.

The Friends of the National Archives believe in the power of community, which is why they host a variety of engaging activities throughout the year. These events not only celebrate the significance and beauty of the holdings of the National Archives but also raise awareness about the urgent need for a new building to better house and showcase these treasures.

Therefore, YOU can make a difference by joining as a member of the Friends of the National Archives!
